The house is
located in Fraccionamiento Bosques de las Lomas, in Mexico City. The
distribution of the different areas responds to the lot’s topography which has
an elevation going towards the rear of the same of 9 meters, approximately. This
slope allowed for the development of a project on platforms around a central
patio.
A double height
pedestrian access is via steps from street level and walls narrowing towards
the rear with a central patio as the high point which leads to all of the
public and service areas. The
central patio is located on the middle level and is the main element of the
house. All of the spaces start out
there. It is illuminated by raised
pergolas which allow for a very interesting interplay of light and shadow
during the course of the day.
The living room and
dining room share the same space. The only division is a fireplace. These stretch towards in inside patio that culminates in a
blue wall with a fountain that goes with the sky and offers great isolation
from the outside. The bedrooms are
on the second level and are arranged around the patio. There windows are
grouped on a single balcony looking outside. The master bedroom and the family room look out onto the
garden. Because of the topography,
it is on the second level. From
the garden, on the upper platform, the house reassumes its single level scale.
The use of color
and the solidity of the volumes and walls were the strongest element of the
composition. The spaces open up and
clearly defined by the atmosphere of bright Mexican colors, neutral floor
materials and supporting furnishings. The house offers a consolidated control
system and energy savings in all of its installations, as well as a very
advanced security mechanism.
