This 625-room hotel complex is situated at the northern end of Potomac Yards, a 1.5-mile-long rail yard redevelopment site in Arlington, Virginia. With its expansive views of
Washington, D.C., and prominent location at a fl ourishing
crossroads, the project is aptly nicknamed National Gateway. Two distinct Marriott hotel products occupy
the site: a full-service Renaissance, and an extended-stay Residence Inn. These are the fi rst new hotel rooms built in
offi ce-heavy Crystal City in more than 10 years. The project also provides 10,000 square feet of streetlevel
retail space, a 24,000 square foot conference center, and below-grade parking. Featuring a planted roof and
other sustainable design concepts, the buildings achieved LEED-Gold through the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating
system. These is one of the fi rst LEED Gold hotels in the state
of Virginia. The project forms the terminus for Center Park, a linear greenspace containing an amphitheater, retail space, and public art.
