Arizona State University has implemented a new academic
research model focused on collaboration across disciplines to encourage
dynamic and synergetic intellectual pursuits that will have a very real
impact on science. The Interdisciplinary Science and Technology Building
1 is the first of multiple phases of research infrastructure centrally
located on the main campus. This state-of-the-art laboratory building is
an expansion of the College of Life Sciences and the College of
Engineering. It houses life sciences and bioengineering faculty
research, supported by analytical and computational laboratories.
The laboratories have been designed generically to provide the
flexibility to adapt to a variety of research programs over time. Shared
support areas, such as environmental rooms, procedure rooms and
equipment rooms are outfitted on each laboratory floor. Core lab, NMR
and vivarium facilities have been designed to support research and
augment future phases of the campus research infrastructure.Awards:
