Set within a planted, low-rise residential urban context, the existing educational, sports, and cultural complex conveys the image of an artificially developed fragment of the city. The municipality’s ambition is to provide a restructured, renovated, and expanded public facilities hub, designed to a high environmental standard and set within a newly renaturalized framework.
On this palimpsest, the two programmatic entities—the gymnasium/leisure center and the media library—are conceived as a contemporary graft: at times restoring what already exists, at others extending the existing arrangement through a central, emblematic element, an enchanting promise for the neighborhood, expressed in a shared, bio-based materiality.
