Arcusin opens a new dialogue between industry and design.
Susanna Cots’ new project unites the values of the industry with the sensitivity of design.
Time, in an industrial environment, has accuracy and precision as values. Values that speak of the mechanical as antithesis to the creative. Two concepts that Susanna Cots wanted to unite in the design of the new facilities of the Arcusin company.
The first nod to this union was the synchronicity with the number that was frozen when the photo finish was taken: 14:14. It’s an almost spiritual time for such a mechanical space.
Continuing with the elements that symbolise the perfect synchrony between the design and the industrial environment, we find the cubes, a hallmark of the interior designer and at the same time a mark of the design of the machinery manufacturers.
Distribution that connects with a symmetrical effect.
The project started with the creation of offices that could communicate visually with the workshop. The proposal was born from a giant cube, with the purpose of housing three cubicles that would facilitate this connection.
The central cube, dedicated to the meeting space and with specific lighting to favour concentration and silence, acts as an axis that projects symmetry on each side. This creates two cubes or blocks of open workstations that are connected by a corridor that joins the entire cubicle transversally.
The offices, located on one side of the building, are the meeting point for concentration and creativity. The company is no longer just a workplace but an experience that transcends productivity and is lived with the senses.
Silence as an essential luxury.
At the heart of this project is a premise: silence is necessary, even (more so) in an industrial environment. To achieve this, the designer not only uses the layout, but also the choice of materials and lighting to create an environment where work is also enjoyment.
A design that embraces duality.
In 14:14, design and industry do not compete they dialogue. Clean lines, noble materials and carefully integrated details turn the space into a reflection of the duality between the mechanical and the human. Here, the industrial environment is not hidden, but integrated as an essential part of the design.
A place that transcends its function.
Beyond being offices, 14:14 is presented as a space of connection. A connection with time, with the environment and with the people who live there. This project demonstrates that aesthetics, in an industrial environment, has the same functional and emotional values as in any contract project.
