This garden has a flair of the Continental European "English garden" which when compared to the traditional English Garden is characteristically on a smaller scale and more filled with "eye-catchers", as it allow the landscape to be experienced in different ways.
The front garden provides complete privacy from the street which was a high priority within the Owner's design program, yet it blends in with the rest of the garden areas and incorporates artworks as well. Both north and south property lines were planted with 18' high hedges which provide privacy from the two adjoining properties with small setbacks.
The landscape architect enhanced the relationship of the landscape to the building and introduced a palette of textures, colored leaves and delicate flowering plants. Garden vignettes were placed within the landscaped areas to provide backdrops for the sculptures collection. The pool and surrounding terraces were given a simple design with clean geometry.
