When we began this project, we asked ourselves: is architecture merely a backdrop, or can it serve as the foundation for daily well-being? How much does the space we inhabit influence our longevity, and how essential is it to our overall sense of life?
As designers, we strive for distinctiveness and a unique design language—a pursuit that, in today’s AI-driven era, is becoming more the norm than the exception. Increasingly, the true value of architecture lies in the human experience, in the sensory connection we establish with our surroundings.
We are not discussing city planning. We are focused on the homes we inhabit, the courtyards where we spend our time, the streets we walk daily, and the plants that enrich our everyday environment. Achieving harmony with our surroundings can profoundly impact mental well-being—much like meditation.
LONGEVITY is not just about the body; it is about the calm and balance of the nervous system within a stable, thoughtfully designed environment. This is where architecture plays a vital role.
In this project, harmonizing with the existing large, mature trees was paramount. The building layout gently embraces these trees within the inner courtyard. The structures are single-story, designed as horizontal counterparts to the verticality of the trees. They function as large, living canopies under which daily life unfolds as a form of meditation.
Natural materials, the texture of wood, and earthy tones respond to our innate need for calm and continuity in daily life.
