Mumbai is surrounded by many large open public spaces, such as Bandstand, Juhu Beach, Marine Lines, and Borivali National Park, which provide a peaceful break from the daily grind to its citizens. While corporations at the high level strive to maintain the quality and cleanliness of these vast spaces, it has become necessary to pay attention to the upgradation of small pocket open spaces scattered locally throughout the city.
An abandoned and worn-down space enclosed by high compound walls, located at a critical junction of Bandstand Promenade, was transformed into a vibrant and fresh open space, known as Arbour Park. The compound wall was taken down and a well-planned walkway was created to welcome pedestrians for a smooth crossover through the junction.
The upliftment of the space led to the regular usage of a landmark junction. The compact park portrays a variety of fragrant creepers and flower plants which add soothing visuals and a fresh scent to the ambience of the park. Seating spaces interspersed with lush vegetation provide a resting point and a calming getaway from the hustle of the city. Small glimpses of the sea, visible through the swaying branches of the trees, captivate the attention of the visitors sparking interest and intrigue.
Many small open pockets and junctions exist around us in our locality. In a city like Mumbai, which is dominated by built structures and concrete buildings, the importance of safeguarding and upscaling every inch of open space becomes imperative for the greater good and well-being of all the citizens.
