This project is located in Seville, Spain, in a historical district characterized by its historical narrow plotting.
Concretely, the dimensions of our plot is 5,00m and 20,00m, with only one façade facing east.
The acrobatics of this exercise is to fit a dense program and be able to bring light into the house….without the heat input….
In summer, the temperature can reach 50º Celsius….
The answer came using the staircase as a lightwell, as well as a ventilation chimneystack.
As the urban rules required an interior full height patio, the staircase naturally found its place as an additional device for lighting and ventilation.
The staircase, serving all the levels in a continuous movement, becomes an architectural element and an active device.
The aim is to provide the most functions as possible to each architectural element of the project.
Two bedrooms naturally find their place on either side of the courtyard, the third bedroom place itself behind the unique façade, lightened in the morning.
The terrace welcomes a 23,00sqm infinity edge swimming pool….
This terrace is fully coverable by means of stretched canvas as you can find in the historical Seville downtown, regulating this way the luminosity and the oppressive summer heat input
