Aquent is the world's leading marketing, web, and creative staffing agency. For over six years, Huntsman has planned and designed multiple regional offices in North America. Following on the success of the company’s recent Boston Headquarters design, Huntsman worked closely with Aquent to expand upon its concept of open neighborhoods and free addressing for their regional New York office. With locations across the US, it was important for the client to communicate a distinct local connection. The team devised an homage to New York by dividing the office into a series of quintessential Manhattan neighborhoods - Uptown, Downtown, Central Park and Highline. Upon entering, in lieu of a typical receptionist area, employees and visitors find themselves in the Boathouse an iconic café in Central Park - which serves multiple purposes. It’s used for casual work, social connecting and, of course, eating. Heading east, within the “downtown” neighborhood, wallcoverings depict archetypal brownstones along the window line. The interior features green felt panels that mimic the lush greenery of New York’s famous Highline and provide a subdued acoustical environment for more focused work. In a tribute to the city’s most bohemian borough, art imitates life in the East Village where a photo booth becomes a casual lounge, the conference room features a record store esthetic and a recording studio serves as quiet room. Design elements such as environmental graphics, custom designed window films, funky accent lighting and neon signage support the overall design intent - a uniquely curated look that remains flexible as the client grows and evolves.
