Part of the Vancouver Olympic / Paralympic Centre, the new 6,200 m2 Aquatic Centre at Hillcrest Park includes a 50-metre lap pool, leisure pool, outdoor pool, steam room, sauna, and hot tub. This facility addresses the important relationships and inter-connections of key aquatic facilities in the city. Located near the geographical centre of Vancouver, the centre carefully balances the needs of both the local community and broader city population. It is due to open to the public in the summer of 2010.
The building design incorporates a variety of sustainable design strategies that target LEED® Gold certification.
