The apartment belongs to Mariella Minore, a flower designer, and her husband, Claudio De Leo, interior designer, who live there with their daughter Bianca. It is located in a late 1960s condominium in the town of Gioia del Colle (Bari), in Puglia.
The architectural and interior design project was developed by rethinking the convivial areas—like the kitchen and living room—and the more private zones such as the bedrooms, so that each family member could enjoy the various spaces independently.
The central theme of the home’s design is the use of materials. The oak parquet flooring, the Viennese cane of the Cesca chairs, the Navona travertine used in the kitchen, the custom partitions made of box tubing and metal mesh, and the Japanese raffia wallpaper all come together to evoke the charm of past interiors, reinterpreted here to meet contemporary needs.
The decorative elements and furnishings—both vintage pieces and custom designs by Claudio—create a synergistic exchange of references, giving the spaces a contemporary language that doesn’t conceal the original character of the apartment.
