This project is a renovation of a 30.85 m2, 15-year-old apartment, tailored to the homeowners’ lifestyle and needs. The apartment is divided into several different functional areas. The first space upon entering is a foyer that also serves as a dressing room as well as a space to store outdoor clothing and shoes. There are closets on both sides providing ample storage space for the two residents' clothing respectively. The central area is the living room, with a small desk by the window for simple work. The TV wall, formed by stairs, faces the sofa, and the adjacent blank wall can be used for a projector, offering versatile use of the living space by simply repositioning the sofa. The wooden staircase itself can also be used as a well-utilized storage space, comprising a closet, two drawers, a flap cabinet for storing large items such as luggage, and hidden storage space next to the TV. The kitchen, proportionally large for this small apartment, caters to the homeowners’ love for cooking. The bathroom is designed with simplicity, featuring a shower area separated by a thick wall with recessed shelves on both sides, complemented by a full-length mirrored cabinet for storage. The stairs lead to the bedroom, where a simple double mattress is placed. There are beams and a row of drawers on the right side of the bed, while there are small storage spaces at the foot and left side of the bed for bedding and clothing. Flexibility and distinctness of space work in harmony, and intelligent use of space is always foremost in this renovation project.
