This apartment is located in a newly-built row house in Ljubljana. Due to a smaller plot and greater density the houses were planned as two-story living units, resulting in limited floor space.
Per the client’s request the architects moved the kitchen from the upper level to the ground floor for greater accessibility. The small amount of space represented a challenge that was resolved when additional storage space was created under the staircase. The kitchen now connects with the outer atrium that functions as a dining area, creating a comfortable space for eating and socializing.
On the first floor a large space opened up to situate the living room, along with two children’s bedrooms. Located on the second floor is the parents’ bedroom with bathroom, which opens up onto a rooftop terrace.
The design of the apartment is modern and characterized by clean lines and a neutral palette that mainly stems from the white walls and oak wood, which seeks to draw a parallel to the oak wooden flooring and inner staircase, also built in the same type of wood.
