Our life gets inevitably cluttered as our homes start accumulating more possession every day. Whether its clothing items, living essentials or even the home decor of Dhaka itself, it can all become an overwhelming pile-up and dis harmonize the balance of the space. Taking that into account, we aimed to develop a home space that rests in a state of order- free from the presence of unnecessary physical clutter. Located at Sector 7 of Uttara, Dhaka, this apartment evokes a tranquil environment akin to the owner’s preconceived vision.
The foremost thing that we considered was to set up a proper storage system that gave the house a sense of balance. Since we had tiny space to work with, we decided to go minimal concealing clutters behind closed doors and drawers. Hidden storage and multipurpose furniture are the modern design lover’s dream, especially in space-challenged urbanites. Instead of crowding the space with too many items, furniture that served more than a purpose were installed. For instance, a coffee table with storage ottomans brings coziness to the living room and is also ideal to stash books and magazines.
In terms of colors, this apartment design of Dhaka is a medley of white and wood tones. These two are a magical combination that complements each other- while wood tones add warmth and depth to the space, interspersing white sections break it up and calm down the potential overpowering hues. Besides, this neutral color scheme allows you to bring out the bold and interesting elements into the apartment design which would otherwise look garish. With a neutral backdrop, personal tastes and design choices can come alive and be noticed. A neutral backdrop works like a blank canvas.
We suggest our clients to add pops of vibrant colors and textures on the furnishes and decorative items. This helps to avoid monotony and the apartment design can get a brand new aura every season. In addition, layers of lighting including spotlight, accent lights, recessed lights has been installed so that diverse ambiance can be created according to the owner’s mood.
What contemporary apartment design of Bangladesh often lacks is the essence of our heritage. To add a touch of tradition seamlessly, interesting elements have been incorporated like ethnic printed cushion covers, brass sculptures, and abstract artworks. In addition, lines and quotes from Bengali poems were carved on some parts of walls that look majestic and sophisticated at the same time.
