An apartment for a family of 4 located in the heart of Budapest, close to the Andrassy utca, just a 5 minute walk from the banks of the Danube was rebuilt in a quiet backyard.
The apartment, a building with 3.5m high ceilings and 140m ² floor area was completely redeveloped.
Great care has been taken to obtain special materials and install it again in the same style.
Thus, the parquet floors and the natural stone tiles in the former kitchen have been carefully developed to be reinstalled after the renovation.
The rigid space division of the former 5 bedroom apartment with going through rooms sometimes lit barely or only by a light shaft, was break open to emerged spacious, light-filled spaces that meet the needs of builders.
The wooden double glazed windows and double wooden doors were preserved and restored.
The existing fundamental structure and materiality was combined with a sleek modern design. Oak herringbone parquet with high white baseboards, white or light gray walls, mosaic tiles on the wall in the bathroom, in combination with large tiles on the floor, a mixture of carefully selected vintage furniture and modern objects gives the house a pleasant light and unobtrusive but stylish atmosphere.
