Apartment 2005 is a thoughtfully designed three-room apartment in Ajdovščina, Slovenia, created as a first nest for a young family. In a world where everyday life is becoming increasingly fast-paced and stressful, the central design vision was clear: to create a calm, playful oasis where the family can relax, connect, and enjoy their daily rituals.
The floor plan was carefully reimagined during construction to fulfill the clients’ needs for a spacious and open living area, free of unnecessary hallways. Upon entering, the spacious foyer immediately reveals a view into the heart of the home — a sunlight-filled living space framed by a large window overlooking the surrounding hills. Additional square footage was achieved by removing the original guest bathroom and a small storage room, allowing the living area to breathe and feel expansive.
Color plays a key role in shaping the apartment’s identity. A dialogue between soft pastels and rich, deep tones unfolds throughout the space, enhanced by a delicate interplay of light and reflections. Mirrors are strategically placed to create visual connections and open up perspectives, giving each room a sense of fluidity. Custom-made wooden furniture further elevates the design with vertical wooden slats adding rhythm and texture, while contrasting gently with the rounded forms of the free-standing furniture pieces.
The foyer, wrapped in a warm terracotta color, invites you toward the living area and kitchen, where the same color reappears boldly on the kitchen countertop, creating a strong visual accent. Opposite the kitchen, pastel blue walls and cabinetry introduce a soft transition between the living space and the more private zones — the bedroom and bathroom.
The children’s room blends practicality with playful charm. While its foundation relies on modular furniture elements from a commercial provider, it is enriched with custom-designed details and a whimsical wallpaper, creating a joyful environment tailored to a child’s imagination.
In the bathroom, the terracotta tones from the living area resurface and are paired with shades of green, adding depth and vibrancy. A mix of ceramic tiles further enhances the tactile experience, making the space more playful.
The bedroom embraces tranquility with soft neutral grays, while an upholstered bed and flowing curtains add warmth and comfort. A small workspace by the window seamlessly integrates into the room and is easily hidden behind the curtain when not in use — a subtle nod to flexible living.
Apartment 2005 is more than just a place to live; it is a carefully curated space where color, light, texture, and function converge to support the rhythm of a family life and celebrate the beauty of everyday moments.
