Península Arquitetura designed and renovated this apartment to optimize its functionality and practicality for the daily lives of a couple and their two dogs. Through strategic interventions, the spaces were transformed to meet the residents' specific needs.
Two internal balconies underwent a process of repurposing. One was converted into an additional bedroom to accommodate the couple's children during their visits, while the other was integrated into the main living room, resulting in a larger and more flexible space.
The living room was designed with ample open areas, considering the comfort of the residents and their pets. A supporting metal structure was installed next to the main window, functioning as a bench, plant stand, decorative object support, and TV rack. The sofa, positioned on the opposite wall, creates a welcoming atmosphere.
In the dining room, the metal structure transforms into a monolithic bench that connects two columns and serves as a headrest for the rectangular eight-seater table, leaving the environment prepared to receive visitors.
The kitchen was designed for open concept living. An island counter connects the kitchen to the dining room, and practical and resistant materials were chosen for the floor, countertop, sink, and cabinets.
In the laundry area, a gravel floor was adapted in a stainless steel niche in the service bathroom's shower stall to accommodate the pets' needs. Storage space in the service area was maximized by utilizing part of it as a pantry.
The guest suite, which was previously a balcony, was divided from the technical balcony, which was incorporated with acoustic coverings. The second suite was adapted to serve as a closet for the couple, and a light work desk was proposed for occasional activities next to the bed.
Recessed baseboards, cement slab floors in social areas, wood in intimate areas, and a predominantly neutral color palette prevail, with the possibility of using stronger tones in non-definitive elements. Plants and a solution to incorporate a bicycle rack into the social area were also considered.
The result is an apartment that combines functionality, comfort, and style, adapted to the couple's needs and desires, valuing the integration of spaces, practicality in everyday life, and the well-being of the entire family.
