Location: New primordial generative square-based prismatic volume (44 x44 m) –a projection of the façade of the adjacent TKE-municipal culture house to Euskadi Street- linked to it by means of an umbilical cord, an aerial gallery which permits a fluent synergy of uses and users thanks to small internal adjust in the original TKE building. The layout arranges turbine-like exterior access from surrounding streets.
Formalization: This prism appears light and graceful, as thin as it possibly could: only 5,50 m between slabs, so its laminar structure will not occlude the original presence of the TKE, nor will it show up intolerably massive over the existing parking surface. The continuous exterior skin of its facade will therefore be composed of light translucent glass elements that will enforce this weightless appearance. Where acoustic conditions request a certain density for the enclosing walls, they incorporate graphics or informative iconic luminous LED grids, which emphasize the kaleidoscopic image of the dynamic activity displayed.
Scale: Nevertheless, a given spatial capacity is to be achieved, and so the initial laminar volume must be allowed to grow in two specific places:
1- The stage house, which descends to a height of one metre over the ground at the exterior parking lot.
2- Over the stands of the auditorium, which folds its covering upwards, thus generating an exterior flight of stands on the roof. This folding hosts a café underneath, open to the outdoor space, as to an urban accessible roof.
Such gestures do not only not distort or ballast the image of the laminar prism, but also enable a fluid and dynamic reading of its activity, preventing an intrusive occlusion of the TKE building.
Versatility:
1- Associate and complementary purposes for TKE. The physical bond of both buildings enables the comfortable transit of users from one to the other, and, if desired, their co-management.
2- The stage house is reversible, by means of a removable backstage. It can operate to the inner auditorium (with half, or extended capacity- spreading out the uppermost flight) or to the exterior, opened to the slope-amphitheatre around the parking lot, to hold concerts, festivals, projections or any cultural event, or, finally, opened to both sides in a multiple combined interior-exterior performance with big audience capacity.
3- Urban park roofing. Accessible from the TKE (1st floor), from the interior of the new ANTENNA itself, and from Lapurdi street by means of a ramp. It houses the cybercafé-restaurant –balcony to the urban surroundings and to the inner auditorium- and the described exterior flight of stands, which allows the privileged contemplation of the urban environment and the celebration of performances (theatre, dance, open air cinema, etc).
Structure: Its implantation allows preserving the 90 parking places required at the open air lot. Its constitution in laminated wood with steel joints offers a handmade image, weightless and ephemeral, away from a heavy intrusion.
Programme: Extraordinarily flexible main spaces (auditory in all possible setups: partial, interior, exterior or combined; music, dance, theatre, projection; multipurpose halls for social encounters; multipurpose halls for music and stage arts; rooms for rehearsal and recording; for technology and trend; exhibition spaces) and other complementary facilities for administration, control, service, etc. On the roofing, the spatial prolongation of the surrounding topography, including the services of an urban park: contemplative transverse transit (interior-exterior), café-restaurant, performances, projections, etc.
