The design concept for An Agency Office was dictated by the client’s wish for a strong corporate branding to be conveyed across the office. It also wanted to evoke a feeling of community, trust and pride in the workplace creating a great place to work for their staff. The design to be executed however was only limited by a relatively modest budget. As a media agency, the client was very aware of the importance of the interior design but maintained that the workspaces and workflow were to be executed precisely in this design as it was highly influential determinant in business success, making an effective contribution to the overall performance by helping to improve individual and collective results. Furthermore, an art gallery impression was also to be incorporated to coexist within the office to allow for the display the agency’s growing artwork collection. In this design, the company’s corporate palette of red, grey and white were used along with a combination of various tactile surface materials such as bare face concrete, corrugated roof sheets and recycled carpets were used to reflect the agency’s corporate identity and branding. False ceilings were removed and the services were left exposed on the ceiling to achieve a higher ceiling space and fashioned a more liberating workspace plan. Efforts were also made to retain the original form and character of the building with co-ordinate containment trays carrying the services across the ceiling. Upon entering the reception, the three corporate colours can be observed throughout the office space. A bold signage wall with agency’s name and logo greets the visitor. This is further accentuated by the various complementary artwork and furniture. The agency’s artwork collection can be seen throughout the walls and floors of the office space. The agency’s workplaces were designed with greater flexibility in mind to allow for reconfiguration of the workspaces when required. This is to accommodate the variable number of staff. The 2 floors of the office were designed with clever low partitions to create an open plan environment that allowed the users to experience perceived privacy will still allowing interaction between the various staff sections. On the upper floor there is a multi-functional boardroom for agency and client meetings as well as staff workstations is flexible in arrangement. The balcony, of the same floor, offers a space for staff to relax during their breaks facilitating staff interaction and discussion or act as a space for informal meetings with their clients. In the end, what was achieved was the creation of a bright and modern atelier workplace that met the every needs of the agency and constructed within the budget allocated.
