Formerly the Jim Beam campus, the newly branded James B. Beam Distilling Company (JBBDCo) campus has long been a household name for bourbon aficionados and novices alike. Known as the birthplace of bourbon, the Beam family has been crafting its iconic American bourbons for eight generations along the expansive bourbon trail in Clermont, KY.
Under the creative direction of LOVE, the JBBDCo sought to create an immersive campus tour that would draw in new and returning visitors with an unparalleled program that encourages guests to make this a repeat experience for years to come.
The JBBDCo campus journey begins and ends with the American Outpost. This two-story visitor center features a retail program for JBBDCo's full suite of bourbons. Housing an interactive retail experience, the American Outpost offers custom capabilities such as personalized gifts, brand apparel, and a newly designed tasting experience that educates guests about the Beam family's extensive bourbon history. Visitors are invited to learn about the Beam family and how JBBDCo bourbon is made, walking in the footsteps of eight generations of Beam Family Master Distillers.
The new materiality and fixturing within the American Outpost renovation were designed to further emphasize the story of JBBDCo and unify the campus. The wood for the new wall cladding was sourced from old ricks that once graced the campus. The retail fixtures were designed to mirror furniture pieces in the Beam family homestead. Thoughtful design elements, such as the "Beam Foto" booth, share the guests' images on a two-story gallery wall collection of digital screens alongside historic Beam photos, welcoming guests to truly become part of the family.
