The Altona Early Years Hub is an integrated Community Facility designed to provide a range of activities focussed around children’s and family services. The building allows for the provision of kindergarten and long day care services for up to 178 places, Maternal and Child Health services, Allied Health and Welfare Consulting Rooms, meeting spaces and a Multipurpose Community Space.
Other facilities in the Centre include external playground areas associated with the children’s services, an enclosed playground to allow for playgroups in the community room, a large central foyer, community kitchen and gathering space, public toilets and a 47-place carpark.
The site is located on the north-east corner of Altona P-9 College in Grieve Parade, Altona. The new Centre Management works closely with the College to provide transition activities and other services.
The new building is an environmental exemplar achieving a BESS “Excellence” Rating. The project had a total budget of $7.83M with a significant proportion coming from the DET Capital Works Program.
