Under the care of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the Allerton Estate in Monticello, Illinois has been transformed into a public park; its buildings used for education and research purposes. Originally designed as a stable and conservatory, the mansion’s two-story Carriage Wing today serves as a multi-purpose event space and lodging. The Car Shop and Extension, supporting buildings to the estate’s National Register nomination, will provide further space for future art programming. To explore necessary repairs, upgrades, and reuse alternatives supporting future growth in programming and capacity for the historic facility, Bailey Edward prepared a feasibility study in line with the Park’s master plan. The results provide the University with options appropriate for the buildings’ historic status on the National Register of Historic Places and associated costs for Allerton Park’s next era, including graphics for fundraising and communications.
