Startup and maker of eco-friendly footwear, Allbirds, tapped MBH to design its new Headquarters space in the historic Jackson Square district of San Francisco. The space is a 13,000-square-foot office that pays homage to the original building through the restored, exposed brick and street signage, in which it was housed.
The headquarters space features a clean, open-plan workspace, honoring the transparent and honest brand. The company’s signature whimsical doodles greet visitors and workers and welcome them into a minimalist palette of neutrals. The focal point of the office is a grand central stair—wrapped with environmental graphics—which MBH added to improve internal connectivity between the two floors. Multi-functional zones spread through the space with open workstations, glass-enclosed conference rooms, “callbirds” phone rooms, and additional collaboration spaces, accommodating employees’ varied productivity preferences throughout the day.
