Alexander Wang opened its second store in Shanghai, and the third store in China located on Level One at International APM in Shanghai’s Xuhui District, spanning over 1,506 square feet. Synonymous with a minimalistic approach, backed in irreverent ease, Christian Lahoude Studio and Wang expanded on the brand's identity, while introducing new elements, in this new worldwide concept.
A clean, white box is punctuated with noble materials; Italian white Carrara marble and black Nero Marquina marble accentuate the space and create illuminated recesses, that frame the collections. Accents of polished bronze offset the monolithic marble
The contrasting black and white is complemented with a balance of transparency and opacity, as manifested in hanging glass units and floating shelving, hovering over weighty, white marble pedestals.
A prominent, new design element is a tiered display unit for accessories, that visually anchors the entrance. Their white marble surface is enclosed by matte black steel and bronze side panels.
Flooring and ceiling balance the composition of the space by adding industrial elements such as raw concrete flooring and the exposed lighting grid on the black ceiling, which is composed of three parallel rows of exposed tubes.
