EOA transformed a former shingled ranch house on a sloping site by opening the house to the view with a completely new window configuration, re-sheathing the entire house in a cement board rainscreen system and integrating a lap pool into the property. The entrance was changed to the ground floor adjacent to the parking on the lower side of the slope and the stair was relocated to the center of the house, where the entrance had once been. The plan was changed to accommodate 3 bedrooms, with one on the ground floor, the other two upstairs, with the Master located to take advantage of the view across Shinnecock Bay. The kitchen was relocated on the ground floor to be near the pool and the screened porch which sits at the very head of the 50' lap pool. Fireplaces were left in place, one now in the kitchen, the other in the living room upstairs. The large floor to ceiling square windows are organized to create a porous view from the house to the exterior.
