Alex House and Jumpa Farmhouse
A new house for all:
"Blending Thai Tradition with Contemporary House Design"
"Place"
The site approaches picturesque views of the surrounding rice fields, located in the area between Phimai Historical Park and Ban Prasat Area in Korat, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. A house where a peaceful and welcoming place with a contemporary and relaxed character is enclosed perfectly in its rural context. A project made up of several centers: a main two stories building, and one-story building have all been designed for the retried house in the future. The concept was to retain and acknowledge the simple shape of the rural building; an inspiration from the regional farm, where both side of the building face the inner central courtyard (with the midday sun) and the other opens the view onto rice fields and ponds.
“Living Together”
is a design concept that seamlessly merges family life and the natural environment. Inspired by the timeless elegance of Thai architecture, this approach creates contemporary living spaces that are both functional and culturally resonant.
"Daughter and Mom"
This home, a thoughtful gift from a daughter to her mother, is designed as a shared haven for a large, multi-generational family. Reflecting the traditional Thai family structure, the house incorporates local architectural elements while prioritizing the family’s modern lifestyle.
"Farmland"
Situated amidst a serene farm landscape, the house is oriented to maximize natural light and ventilation. The expansive ponds on the east and west sides add to the property’s idyllic charm. They also influence the house’s design. Latticework screens on the west facade mitigate the harsh afternoon sun and offer privacy, while allowing cooling breezes to circulate.
"Orientation"
The interior is divided into two connected wings by a central courtyard, offering a tranquil outdoor space for relaxation. The eastern wing houses the parents’ and daughter’s bedrooms. It has a shared living area that opens onto the east pond. This creates a refreshing and inviting atmosphere. This space serves as the heart of the home, perfect for family gatherings.
The western wing is a two-story structure. The ground floor is dedicated to dining, pantry, and a Thai kitchen designed for efficient interaction. Upstairs, bedrooms for the grandchildren and the older brother surround a central hall. This hall provides a communal space for children to study and play.
"Simple iconic"
The home’s contemporary interpretation of traditional Thai architecture is clear in its gable roof and simplified, modern detailing. This fusion of old and newly created a timeless and harmonious living space that is both familiar and fresh
