This Project refers to the remodeling of a restaurant with a 20-year history in the city of Madrid. Aldaba: a traditional restaurant with very good service and a good wine cellar.
This commission is to review and update the image, as much at aesthetic level as culinary. For this, a young team is collaborating with the existing owner to undertake this change.
In a remodeling, it is as important to decide what stays as what goes. In this case, it has been decided to maintain the paving and false ceiling, as well as an important part of the private rooms.
The changes are mainly concentrated on access and lighting. Now one enters straight towards some ‘welcome’ carts where, at gastronomic level, the strengths of Aldaba are glimpsed: one filled with seasonal vegetables, another with delicious desserts, and even the good wines have their own cart. A shelf of bright steel and mirror supports everything.
Lighting has been resolved by a few lights designed specifically for this project: some vertical metallic profiles receiving led light, as well as the entire perimeter of the premises and over the false roof which supports some spotlights that light up the table.
These changes are significant enough to obtain a modern, up-to-date and intimate space at night, and an elegant and versatile one during the day.
