Calgary International Airport (YYC), Alberta.
As Canada’s fastest growing airport, the Calgary International Airport (YYC) is currently tackling the largest expansion endeavor in its history which is aimed at increasing various functional spaces to support the role YYC plays in building economic growth in Calgary and Alberta. Work began in 2012 on the $2 billion Airport Development Plan (ADP), an ongoing multi-phase expansion project which includes a new international terminal and runway development. SAHURI + Partners was involved with the ADP through the four-phase expansion and upgrade of the existing Airside Maintenance Center (AMC). This $26 million project included expanding the equipment garage, providing new administration offices and staff kitchen/dining area, maintenance and warehouse facilities, storage areas, and new fuel systems operations. The logistical challenge here was that the existing AMC needed to stay fully operational during the expansion, and the project schedule needed to coincide perfectly with the ADP schedule. The new space was completed and officially opened in 2015. Covering 88,479 sf., the improved AMC is designed to better meet high-level operational requirements of YYC.
