Aima is located at Errázuriz 970, Punta Arenas, facing the Strait of Magellan, in a heritage building that forms part of the city’s history and in a neighborhood that is consolidating as a gastronomic hub. A meeting point between locals and travelers, between the port and the city. We brought an iconic space back to life in a building that hosted a key part of Punta Arenas’ dining scene for many years, restoring its intent, some of its materials, and its inherent nobility.
The intervention sought to preserve what existed while giving it a new narrative.
The bar structure was kept intact and complemented with new materials, fusing the old with the new. Some walls retain the original wood, while others—such as the ceiling—were painted to balance the warmth of the material with greater brightness and a sense of openness.
Across the spaces, the visual codes were built around four key concepts, each translated into experiences within the restaurant:
TERRITORY: Patagonia in its essence. Southern, remote, tradition and heritage. Ice, stone, wood, and nature as the language of the space. Expressed in the dining rooms, where nature envelops and creates a sensory experience.
FIRE: The heart of the restaurant. The grill at the center, the kitchen as a shared experience. Welcoming, warm, a place for gathering and connection. A clear protagonist in the design, setting the rhythm of the place.
ELEGANT: Without excess. Sophisticated, with noble, high-quality materials. Everything considered with a balance between the natural and the refined. A discreet luxury, without ostentation.
CONTEMPORARY: To stand apart from what already exists in Punta Arenas. Innovating without losing identity. A clean design that feels current and unforced.
