More than 50 years after its establishment, AIIMS has undergone a major infrastructure overhaul, with a new OPD block coming up at Masjid Moth, half a kilometre away from the existing campus. Completed in 2019, the built-up area of the new block is 12,00,000 sqft approx. The 9-storey building has been designed to handle 10,000 patients daily for which 270 consultation rooms have been planned. The building also has 3 basements for services and parking. The future-oriented hospital block has been equipped with fully automated smart labs capable of handling 2 lakh tests daily and is fully air-conditioned.
