The new office space for the American Institute of Architects Nebraska Chapter (AIA NE) and Lincoln Haymarket Development Corporation (LHDC) offices was designed to maximize the given footprint shared amongst the two entities, as well as to create a working environment that is efficient and aesthetically satisfying to both parties.
The LHDC office will continue to occupy the more private space and the AIA NE office will occupy the front of the space where the Haydon Art Gallery was previously, however, the floor plan of the space has been re-imagined to take advantage of the overall space and the needs of the two offices.
The Hardy Building is located in prime real estate in the heavily trafficked and vibrant Haymarket District of Lincoln. The overriding concept of the design is to educate and advocate the significance of architecture and AIA NE through the design of this office space while maintaining the privacy of LHDC to conduct its business.
The AIA NE space is intended to be strategically lit up at night so that the Pantone Red 032 architectural elements are prominently seen from the street and the images of the significant architectural work are visible on the floor of the space as the public walks by. The goal is to have passersby take notice and engage with the space while not literally being in the space.
