The
upper two levels of this historic warehouse were converted into a single level
of corporate offices. The floor dividing
the space was removed and replaced with back to back steel channels that carry
wind load and provide a method for concealing lighting conduit. Large clerestory windows along the new walls
bring light into the eighteen foot tall spaces while maintaining acoustical
privacy for the offices. The building, dating from the late eighteenth century,
occupies a prominent intersection along the Potomac Waterfront in Old Town,
Alexandria.
