A desert school in the heart of the Palm Springs Unified School District . This school is a reconstruction replaces a dilapidated old school in a low socio-economic community in Cathedral City, California. The replacement is a school designed to amplify the optimistic desert modernism that is embraced by the community at large. It uses passive design strategies to maximize energy efficiency while still connecting with vision glazing to the expansive mountain and desert views surrounding the school. It boasts innovative collaborative spaces in the library and science/maker space labs. It also manages school safety with enhanced supervision and secure campus perimeters.
