A former military housing building allocated to AGU was rebuilt as an apartment building that would serve the needs of the university academic staff. A ground floor access provides parking for the residents in the backyard, answering a major functional problem on one of the main arteries of the city. The building consists of four types of flats, 1+1, 1+2, 1+3 and 1+4, totaling to 32 apartments. Guest rooms and social facilities are located at the roof level. The different types of flats are mixed on the same floor levels, avoiding bias toward different family compositions. The 1+4 apartments are duplex, going half-a-floor-level up and down from the flat’s entrance level. The zinc cladding of the main façades has created a new and striking appearance on the main street with its color and texture.
