AGR House is an architectural statement—a resonance of design that transforms a static object, a home, into an evolving spatial experience. This project was conceived as a dynamic entity, where each level is shaped through the rhythm of split-level transitions, allowing movement and flow to dictate the spatial composition.
Located in Bintaro, South Jakarta, AGR House is deeply attuned to the ever-changing moods of its climate. The interplay between architecture and environment is central to its design, integrating tropical principles with a warm interior and a landscape that embraces nature in its fullest expression. At its core, AGR House is built on the idea that every space should tell a story. Space, in its broadest sense, must remain inclusive, adaptable, and reflective of its inhabitants.
From the exterior, the house seeks to redefine spatial meaning, counteracting the growing ambiguity of contemporary architecture. The terrace, for instance, is designed with intention, offering distinct atmospheres depending on the nature of the guest. It seamlessly shifts from a formal welcoming space for brief visits to an informal, sunken outdoor living area for longer engagements.
Beyond its function, AGR House embodies prestige; not in its scale or materials, but in its ability to stand as a unique marker within its micro-environment. The approach to the facade was guided by the idea of creating an imagined boundary, where greenery and trees serve as a natural extension of space while blending seamlessly with the materials deliberately chosen in collaboration with the owner. The design integrates bare concrete and exposed brick, paired with select black-painted accents to create depth and contrast. Wooden elements, subtly present, add warmth while maintaining an understated presence. These elements work together to imbue the house with an understated yet undeniable presence.
Inside, a warm palette dominates. Natural light filters generously through expansive openings, creating a balanced visual experience that harmonizes with the surrounding landscape. Certain interior elements—what the architects call "inscape"—mirror the outdoor greenery, seamlessly extending the tropical essence indoors. This repetition of landscape within the home further reinforces the connection between structure and nature.
At its core, AGR House is a private retreat, shaped by the character of its owner. Designed for solitude and independent daily routines, it offers an intimate, personal atmosphere while still allowing moments of openness for structured social interactions. The owner’s commitment to consistency—whether through their habits, exercise routines, or daily rhythm—is reflected in the honest architecture of the space.
AGR House stands as a declaration of authenticity. It embraces architectural truth, unfiltered and raw, offering a home that is not just a residence but a statement of identity, belonging, and presence.
