This architectural study evolved from several milestones achieved through Houston Spaceport development in recent years. Starting with the Economic and Business study in 2013, followed by the Spaceport conceptual design, spaceport licensing and master planning studies in 2015, several planning Charrettes and interviews with existing and potential tenants were conducted. These served as the basis for the preliminary design of the new Aerospace Business Incubator at Houston Spaceport.
This study examines several architecture growth scenarios based on the clients’ and tenants’ requirements and introduces a new office / dry lab “Incubator” facility adjacent to the HASC building as one of the feasible designs for the new Aerospace Business Incubator.
The composition consists of the following components: four elementary volumes, connective tissue on the 1st floor and the translucent pergola surrounding the entire building. Whatever the ultimate choice of the tenant, the concept of the building remains the same. In addition to the freedom of placing the programs and features in the facility design, the concept also allows for gradual phase construction of buildings and even the continuation of future construction.
