HMC ARCHITECTS - The Aeronautics training facility proposed at Chino Airport will give students a chance to experience hands-on interactive training in an inviting environment. The design references the idea of movement in aeronautical design with the concept of form-making as a method for creating visual interactions between programmatic spaces. The design is grouped into three distinct bands of program for administrative, airplane hangar, and classroom usage. The bands are then interlocked establishing areas for interaction and visual movement creating transparency from one space to the next. The administration band makes a wide sweeping gesture towards the street provoking interest, interaction, and social gathering while also providing a clear entry statement.
