The young and vibrant agency AEI Media approached Trifle Creative* for help with their first ever office purchase in the autumn of 2013. It was a big move and they wanted an office space that reflected their personality and requirements.
The space was already fitted out in a very traditional manner with lots of individual offices, low-tiled ceilings, and an odd kitchen in the corridor. The space was not functional for a modern media agency’s needs so the conclusion was made to “rip it up and start again.”
The whole space was opened up — creating working zones for all the various requirements: working, meeting, mixing, thinking, and socializing. We exposed the concrete ceiling to create an industrial vibe. To balance that with warmth and texture, we clad one side of the space in floor-to-ceiling reclaimed wooden planks, added pops of color throughout the space, and warmer lights in the non-office zones.
A modern but homely kitchen/cafe area was created which worked brilliantly as an informal meeting and social area. We had a lot of fun creating a “hidden snug” room accessed via a secret door within a bookcase that leads into the mixing studio for resident and visiting DJs.
The new workspace is fun, collaborative, and creative — perfectly encompassing the business’s and employees’ needs.
