Covering an area of 3.5 hectares, the Advantech Smart Campus consists of four buildings constructed respectively in three phases; Phase I: Office Building and Intelligent Greenhouse; Phase II: Manufacturing and Distribution Center; and Phase III: Innovative R&D Center. The design intentions of creating a central axis, placement of a central courtyard, a distinct front from the rear are emphasized in an attempt to articulate a campus that, together with intelligent green building technologies, create a comfortable working environment in the Industry 4.0 era.
The building façade incorporates bricks and exposed concrete to create a unified campus style. These materials are chosen not only for their rich textures, but also their ability to reduce the heat load on the building exterior. Other design features such as brick cavity walls, deep recessed windows, insulated low-E glass, vertical shading panels, all enhance the performance of the building envelope. A comfortable and smart working environment is achieved by the integration of interior spaces and intelligent building technology. Examples include a lobby with a low-maintenance green walls, intelligent conference rooms and communal spaces, mobile offices and canteens, and a situation room that utilizes Industry 4.0 applications. Through the integration of the architectural design and seven intelligent building systems, the project gradually obtains the relevant certificates as it becomes a leader in the field of intelligent green architecture.
