At the heart of the Pierre and Marie Curie Campus, the university and administrative restaurants help strengthen the campus spirit and create connections between the city and the surrounding landscape. By multiplying links between existing buildings, respecting the original master plan, and offering a wide variety of spatial typologies, the project contributes to a vibrant, dynamic, and high-quality university life.
In keeping with the original grid layout, the administrative restaurant fits within one of the quadrangles of the campus grid, preserving the existing street alignment while safeguarding the two large plane trees. Its double-height glass volume offers expansive views of the landscape from within. Its green roof is accessible for resting or reading, set apart from the bustle of the campus. The southeast façade of the administrative restaurant opens onto the lawn, where outdoor tables and chairs are installed during the warmer months, allowing visitors to dine in the shade of the large trees. The university restaurant and cafeteria, located along the Cassan building, feature new planted terraces and a green roof. Together, they contribute to the liveliness and daily life of the campus throughout the day.
The creation of multiple circulation routes from the administrative restaurant to the existing buildings enhances its integration at the heart of the campus. Through a series of sloping planes, the restaurant strengthens the connections between the Jussieu slab level and the lawns along Quai Saint-Bernard. A peripheral circulation route leads, at the upper level, to a wide gallery that can extend the dining space. The administrative restaurant offers a great variety of spaces—some with generous ceiling heights, others more intimate—diversifying seating arrangements and dining experiences. High acoustic performance also allows the spaces to host coworking activities or informal meetings outside mealtimes.
