The design combines the urban planning requirements and the desire of Südwestmetall to present itself as the employers' association for the metal industry. The three-part building complex housing the training facilities and the administration of Südwestmetall is located in the old town of Reutlingen where it blends in with the surrounding founding period buildings. The saddle roofs and the volumes of the buildings are typical for the area. However, the stainless steel facade runs counter to the association of a town villa with a garden. Ornamental metal panels line the ground floor and the exterior. The sun protection elements of the facade can be drawn in so that they are flush with the stainless steel membrane. The building embodies the versatility of the material, metal: From the outside, the structures are perceived as stainless steel monoliths, but from the inside the metal membrane appears filigree.
