For the Spring / Summer 2006 collection of Y-3, our client selected the
Cipriani’s Ballroom at 55 Wall Street - a turn of the century, soaring
bank building. The objective was to create a show evocative of the
flash, sleek and sophistication of the brand. Situated within one of the oldest banks in New York, we designed a
massive, stainless steel vault door, set within a white vinyl wrapped
wall. Guests entered to sit alongside three runways - ala the Adidas
stripes - formed by lines of over-sized bevelled silver bricks.
Overhead, a mirrored ceiling was suspended to reflect the show. Amidst
the dramatic soundscape, the vault door opened, spun on a pivot to
reveal the Y-3 logo in chrome and mirror laminates, and then moved
off-stage to open the vault, out of which the models made their
entrances.
