A young family expresses the wish and will to enlarge the existing small apartment on the first floor of the paternal villa to have new spaces for their needs.
The existing villa is located at the edge of the town, on a corner plot, and has a wide open view on the surrounding countries. The main front is the one that can be seen from the route that carries to Porto Cesareo, a small village on the seaside.
The project bases on few main ideas: continuity with local tradition and with the existing volumes; separation between public zone and private zone; patio as outdoor living.
The new volume is placed on the front of the building and balances the void volume of the entrance loggia at ground floor. The transition between existing apartment and its addition can be clearly seen by the contrast between dark and light due to the setback of the wall of the laundry room.
