Located within the Swiss Residence in Çeşme, ADB House is a summer residence designed by Habif Architects. With its refined detailing and understated lines, this seafront property serves as a serene summer retreat for a family of three. It offers a 115-square-meter living area and a 50-square-meter terrace.
Hakan Habif, founder of Habif Architects, explains:
"In this project, completed within a limited timeframe, our priority was to take a timeless approach to a home designed for summer use. By preserving the existing layout and material structure, we reinterpreted the house with a holistic design perspective, using natural materials to bring the space into a refined and enduring balance."
The wooden cladding used on the living room wall not only brings warmth, but also creates a visual flow and spatial unity in the open-plan area that includes the kitchen and lounge. Set against the wooden wall cladding, a work by Ekrem Yalçındağ brings rhythm and color into the minimalist composition, infusing the space with visual movement and a sense of balanced dynamism.
A custom-designed marble dining table and a refined TV unit—crafted from a mix of metal, wood, and marble—anchor the space with a quiet sense of cohesion and functionality.
The open kitchen, living room, and terrace are thoughtfully connected to accommodate the dynamic pace of summer living. This fluid relationship between interior and exterior extends the usable space, allowing every room to fully engage with the sea view, much like the terrace itself. To strengthen this sense of spatial continuity, Berna Suyabatmaz notes that one of the project's goals was to create a visual flow from outside to inside, achieved through the use of mirrors that reflect the surrounding sea views throughout the house.
In deliberate contrast to the overall tranquil design, the youth bedroom introduces a sense of vibrancy tailored to its user. Green Kartell lighting fixtures, artworks positioned above the bed, and textured wardrobe surfaces bring an energetic character to this space.
Throughout the home, carefully selected pieces from distinguished brands with modern lines were chosen. The living room features Bonaldo sofas and chairs, complemented by Illan lighting fixtures positioned above the custom-designed marble dining table, while Miniforms chairs furnish the bedrooms, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the space.
Seren Çırpan summarizes the spirit of ADB House as:
"This modest yet characterful home breathes through its balance—simple in form, sufficient in function, and refreshingly minimal."
