The design for the Acerta Headquarter located in
Leuven, Belgium, was based on the idea of a curtain wrapping the existing
building. The goal was to connect the three existing buildings, under the same
dialogue. The curtain is lift-up to give the access to the main entrance and
secondary entrance. The second skin in aluminum have a gradient pattern laser
cut to hide subtly the existing façade and in the same time keeping the views
to the surrounding.
The outside second skin is connected with the inside
skin by a vortex at the entrance. The inside skin is hiding the MEP and the inside
structure of the building. In the same time it creates separation between the
public area and the office areas. Therefore the complete lobby is wrapped up to
the last floor taking position in the atrium of the lobby.
