A local bank wanted a new office headquarters and branch with street presence. They chose an existing 70’s four story office building with an available ground floor. Our challenge was to use their brand as the springboard to craft a custom space to accommodate their programmatic requirements. Taking the bank’s logo, as well as their instructions of a warm, welcoming and visible environment, we used wood as a common element to organize the space. While designing around the inclusion of fire doors that would be implemented into the new open floor plan to satisfy the exiting standard. Wood bent, folded, and curved became a canvas along with the use of custom designed fabric light “orbs”, were our interpretation of their needs. We also added an exterior canopy meant to evoke the shape of the bank’s logo, blending into the existing 70’s architecture.
