Meyzieu’s music and dramatic art conservatory take place in the metropolitan landscape like a monolith, raised on its four corners. The large mineral screen, stretched over seventy meters, establish a forecourt in front of the tramway station. Both massive and light, the project is setting up between the ground and the sky, creating an experience with the sun.
The north facade raising gives a glimpse on a bright patio and a background garden; an invitation to cross the conservatory doors, a desire to discover its heart.
This architectural figure, like a catchy refrain, is the foundation stone of a cultural hub dedicated to music.
The mineral characteristics of the volume guarantee the acoustic quality of the building. It is the mass that insulates rooms from outside noise and protects the neighbourhood. Through the patio, the sunlight gets to the conservatory heart to create a sunny courtyard, protected from the street noise. This space, which is open to the sky, create a patio, a privileged place for shows, meeting, talking or waiting and organizes users trajectories in the whole conservatory.
Light is the main material of this architectural project. Sunlight is slipping under facades and throught the roof. In the evening, interior lights underline the conservatory’s curves, announcing a pending performance. The oscillation between daylight and spotlights cadence building life.
