The Academy of Art and Design forms the initial project on the Dreispitz grounds in Basel, Switzerland. The 47-metre high building accommodates a lecture theatre, offices, workshops and exhibition rooms, as well as a library on the top floor. Its structure is based on a floor plan with an asymmetric core forming four spatial zones with different breadths. They can be used flexibly and partitioned using lightweight walls and curtains. The façade deliberately recalls associations with industrial architecture.
