The project consist of the reconversion of the former fire station and Academy of Fine Arts in the historic Centre of Ghent. The building block measures 100 by 120 meters and is located in the historical center of Ghent. A mixed housing development completed with a series of public functions makes this area part of the vibrant city center. The project mediates between the medieval fabric and the larger scale cloister typologies towards the North. An intricate network of pedestrian alleys and public gardens structure the site and enhance the quality of a variety of housing typologies.
This project is a multidisciplinary coproduction of MikeViktorViktor architects, Immogra, BesixRed, Wouter Callebaut restoration architect, Bureau Bouwtechniek, Daidalos Peutz, Studieburo Mouton, RCR Engineering, Hydroscan, Vectris and artist Dirk Braeckman.
